It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the inaugural issue of The Olive Branch, our new quarterly magazine celebrating the extraordinary people and stories of Mount Olive Schools. This publication is designed to reflect the pride, trust, and shared commitment that bind our schools and community together. Importantly, this initiative was funded through a Federal Grant, which required no local tax dollars, underscoring our commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility.
In this first issue, you’ll meet individuals who embody the heart and soul of Mount Olive. From the inspiring leadership of Roger and Mary Kratochvil and their transformative work through the Mount Olive Academic Foundation, to the efforts of Focus 5, whose fundraising ingenuity supports everything from athletics to academics, these stories highlight the generosity and passion that define our community.
We also shine a light on the educators who make Mount Olive a special place to learn and grow. Shelby Curtis and Trisha Monke are creating spaces where students feel safe and supported, addressing mental health and social-emotional needs with unmatched care. Casey Davis is reimagining math education, ensuring all students leave high school with the tools they need to succeed, whether in college or the workforce.
Our Career and Technical Education program, led by Mike Winsel, continues to open doors for students, equipping them with real-world skills for high-demand careers. Students like Chloe Green and Reese Heyen are not just excelling in these programs—they’re dreaming big and working hard to make those dreams a reality.
This magazine is more than a collection of stories; it’s a reflection of the partnership that makes Mount Olive exceptional. Transparency, collaboration, and a shared vision for the future are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are building a legacy of excellence, one student at a time.
Thank you for your continued support and trust in Mount Olive Schools. We look forward to sharing more stories of pride, progress, and possibility in the months ahead.
With hope and gratitude,
Dr. Brandi Kelly
Superintendent, Mount Olive Schools
