A community engagement initiative of Centralia HSD 200.

Winter | 2025

Dear Centralia High School Family and Friends,

It’s my pleasure to welcome you to this Winter issue of The Spirit of CHS. This magazine serves as a reflection of the people, programs, and stories that make Centralia High School a cornerstone of our community. As you read, I hope you’ll feel the same sense of pride I do in what our students, staff, and alumni continue to accomplish.

Inside these pages, you’ll meet individuals who embody the Centralia spirit. From Xavier Koch balancing academics, athletics, and leadership, to Vicky Benjamin creating a library that feels like home for every student, their stories showcase the depth of talent, determination, and care that define our school.

You’ll also learn about programs that are shaping the future. Rob Mensen’s automotive shop is more than just a classroom—it’s a launchpad for careers built on safety and accountability. Our yearbook team, led by Mya McGee, Parker Russell, and Hattie Castleman, is preserving moments that students and families will cherish for decades to come. And in the FFA chapter, students like Teya Knox and Ressa Periman are discovering their voices and passions, whether they grew up on a farm or not.

Of course, a school community is more than academics and extracurriculars—it’s a place where students feel safe, supported, and valued. That’s why we are especially grateful for Officer Blake Dukes, our School Resource Officer, who brings not only security but also trust and connection to his role. Officer Dukes is a daily reminder that safety is built on relationships, and his presence strengthens the foundation of our school.

These are just a few highlights, but every story in this issue reflects the exceptional work happening every day at CHS. What’s most remarkable is that these successes are a team effort. Our faculty and staff work tirelessly to support and guide students, and our community’s commitment to education continues to inspire us.

As we look ahead, I invite you to continue being an active part of our journey. Whether it’s attending a game or performance, mentoring a student, or simply sharing words of encouragement, your support strengthens the foundation we build upon every day.

Thank you for believing in Centralia High School. Together, we are not just preparing students for the future—we’re shaping leaders, creators, and innovators who will carry the spirit of CHS into everything they do.

With gratitude and shared pride,

Dr. Chuck Lane
Superintendent, Centralia High School
