Breaking Limits: Olivia Neudecker’s Journey Through Sports and Beyond
"Starting from scratch taught me to work harder, dream bigger, and never back down."

For Olivia Neudecker, life as a three-sport athlete is more than just busy—it’s a testament to her grit, adaptability, and drive to excel. A senior at Centralia High School, Olivia has made waves on the soccer field, the tennis court, and the basketball court, leaving a legacy of resilience and success.
“I didn’t even start playing soccer or tennis until my freshman year,” Olivia shares, a fact that surprises many who know her now. “But once I started, I was hooked. It’s been an amazing journey.”
Olivia’s rapid rise in tennis is particularly striking. Competing in doubles, she and her partner, Maddie Francois, reached the state tournament—a major accomplishment for someone who hadn’t held a racket until four years ago. “Our first match at state was against the number two seed,” Olivia recalls. “It was tough, but we managed to win a game. And in the next round, we actually won the match.”
While tennis is a sport she’s grown to love, soccer remains her passion. Recently signing with Kaskaskia College to play soccer, Olivia is excited about continuing her athletic career at the collegiate level. “Soccer just feels right,” she says. “It’s where I can really be myself.”
Off the field and court, Olivia is weighing her future options. Though she plans to transition to a four-year university after Kaskaskia, she’s still deciding on her career path. “I’m leaning toward nursing,” she says. “It’s a field with so many possibilities, and I love the idea of helping people.”
Her love for animals, evident in her internship at a veterinary clinic, adds another layer to her story. “It’s not nursing exactly, but it’s been such a rewarding experience,” she says. “I’ve learned a lot about responsibility and care.”
A lifelong Centralia resident, Olivia takes pride in her tight-knit community. “It feels like everyone knows everyone here,” she says. “My parents are super involved, and people always seem to know me through them. It’s nice—it feels like family.”
Beyond sports and academics, Olivia treasures her time spent cheering on her school’s teams and making memories with friends. “Last year’s basketball season was unforgettable,” she says. “Following the boys’ team through their playoff run was such an exciting experience.”
Looking back, Olivia is grateful for the support she’s received from teachers, coaches, and peers. She gives a special shoutout to her former English teacher, Ms. Jack. “She pushed me to do my best, even when it meant writing a ton of essays,” Olivia laughs. “I wasn’t thrilled at the time, but it taught me a lot about discipline and expression.”
As her time at Centralia High School draws to a close, Olivia reflects on the unexpected paths she’s taken and the lessons she’s learned along the way. “Trying something new can be scary, but it’s worth it,” she says. “I’ve discovered so much about myself because I was willing to take that first step.”
For Olivia Neudecker, the future is wide open, filled with possibilities she’s ready to explore. Whether on the field, in a classroom, or in her community, Olivia’s story is one of determination, growth, and a fearless spirit.
