As we continue to step through this Winter season, I’m proud to share the latest issue of Fly Together, a collection of stories that highlight the heart and hard work of our schools, students, and staff. This magazine is a testament to the great things happening in Jasper County Schools and the incredible people who make it all possible.
In this issue, you’ll read about remarkable students like Ian Bower, whose blend of artistic talent and mathematical precision drives his dreams of creating an animated series. You’ll also meet Avery Mulvey, a standout scholar-athlete whose dedication to softball and academics shows the value of discipline and teamwork.
Our teachers and staff are also front and center. Donna Chesnut has spent nearly two decades as a Title 1 paraprofessional, helping students build confidence and succeed in reading and math. And both Abby Jansens—our counselor and special education teacher—share their unique ways of supporting our students, showing that every child’s success starts with care and connection.
These stories represent just a fraction of what’s happening in our schools. Whether it’s through academics, extracurriculars, or the personal growth of our students, Fly Together is about celebrating the progress and potential within our district.
I want to thank our teachers, staff, parents, and community members for the role you play in this success. Your support, encouragement, and involvement make all the difference for our students. Together, we’re building a stronger future, one student at a time.
Enjoy this issue of Fly Together, and let it remind you of the amazing things we can accomplish when we all work together.
Best regards,
Joe Sornberger
Superintendent, Jasper County Schools
