Welcome Letter From the Superintendent - Spring '25

Dear Unity Point Community,

Spring is a time of renewal and reflection, and as we look around Unity Point, we see a school filled with growth, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to our students. This issue of The Point captures the heart of our school—a place where dedicated educators, ambitious students, and a strong community come together to make a difference.

This spring is especially meaningful to me, as it marks my final months as Superintendent of Unity Point. As I prepare to retire at the end of this school year, I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude for the years I have spent here. This school has been more than just a place of work—it has been a home, filled with people who inspire me every single day. The students, staff, families, and community members of Unity Point have shown me what it means to be part of something truly special, and I will carry these memories with me always.

We honor the incredible legacy of service of John Longueville, whose leadership helped shape Unity Point’s future. Likewise, Kerry Glenn’s 27 years of dedication as a teacher, coach, and silent leader have left an immeasurable impact, ensuring that every student has the support they need to thrive. And through Tim Ward’s leadership in athletics, our students are not just learning to compete, but to grow as individuals, balancing academic excellence with sportsmanship.

At Unity Point, leadership begins early. Our Beta Club members are proving what it means to lead with excellence, while our Brain Games team is pushing the boundaries of creativity and problem-solving. Meanwhile, Kelsey Holzmueller is breaking barriers in wrestling, showing us all that determination has no limits. Our young gymnasts, Xander and Archer, are also showing discipline and dedication, proving that hard work starts early and leads to remarkable achievements.

Beyond leadership, we are also building strong foundations for learning. Our Birth to Three program is giving our youngest learners the best possible start in life, and our Stars and Stairs mentoring program is ensuring that new teachers have the support they need to succeed in the classroom. And for students looking for opportunities beyond academics, the Good News Club provides a space for faith-based learning and character development.

Unity Point is a place where students are encouraged to explore, innovate, and dream big. As I step away, I do so with immense pride and confidence that this school will continue to flourish, supported by the incredible people who make it what it is. Thank you for allowing me to be part of this journey, for welcoming me into your lives, and for making Unity Point a place I will always hold dear in my heart.

Yours in education,

Dr. Lori James-Gross
