Welcome Letter From the Superintendent - Spring '25

Dear Centralia High School Community,

As the seasons change and spring brings new opportunities, we take this moment to celebrate all that makes Centralia High School a place of tradition, growth, and excellence. This issue of Spirit of CHS is a reflection of our students, staff, and community—each contributing to the rich legacy of our school.

CHS is home to traditions that span generations, and May Fete, now in its 112th year, remains one of the most cherished. More than a dance, it is a symbol of grace, legacy, and the unity that binds our school and community together. Year after year, this celebration brings us together in a way that few schools can claim.

Beyond tradition, CHS continues to be a place where students prepare for their futures in innovative ways. Programs like our engineering and CNC machining courses are giving students hands-on experience in fields that will shape tomorrow. Meanwhile, our internship program connects students with local businesses, providing real-world exposure and helping them determine their paths after high school.

Leadership and service are at the core of CHS, and our National Honor Society members embody the values of scholarship, character, and community commitment. Similarly, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes is giving students a platform to lead with faith, demonstrating that leadership comes in many forms.

We also celebrate the power of kindness. The Acts of Random Kindness (ARK) club has shown us how small gestures can change school culture, making CHS a place where every student feels valued. At the same time, students like Carter Lorence, our Scholar Bowl captain, exemplify the drive for excellence, pushing themselves academically while inspiring their peers.

At CHS, we recognize that a strong school is built not just on academics but on safety and support. Bryan Kuder’s leadership in school security has created an environment where students can learn with confidence, knowing they are protected and cared for.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to fostering a culture of tradition, innovation, and kindness. Thank you for being a part of the CHS family, for supporting our students, and for believing in the power of education to shape bright futures.

With gratitude,

Dr. Chuck Lane
