Dear Monmouth-Roseville Community,
As we open this Fall issue of TitanNation, I am reminded once again of the extraordinary people who make our schools so much more than classrooms and hallways. The stories you’ll read here highlight the wide range of voices and experiences that shape our district—and together, they create a picture of a community that truly puts kids first.
You’ll meet students like Nate Nzinga, who shows that character shines brightest when tested, and Dorcas Dovo, whose empathy and imagination already set her apart as a leader in the making. You’ll see the heart of a goalkeeper in Anastasia Hinderliter, the resilience of Anna Carlson and our Special Olympians through Team Titan Nation, and the pride of seniors like Andrea Velasquez, who bridge languages and cultures with confidence and grace.
You’ll also hear from the adults whose steady hands guide us forward. From long-serving staff like Ann Gillen and Kathy Robertson, to those who stepped into education from other walks of life like Christen Allen, their stories reveal the quiet strength of people who have dedicated themselves to children and families. Leaders like Barb DuPré, Pam Huber, and Dave Giles remind us that caring for kids—whether through logistics, mentorship, or simple presence—is at the very heart of this work. And you’ll see how family and service run deep through the stories of Brigida Gutierrez and Eden Velazquez, sisters who embody what it means to give back to the district that once gave so much to them.
Taken together, these twelve stories share a simple truth: Monmouth-Roseville thrives because of people. People who step up, who serve, who care for others before themselves. People who make sure every child has the chance to succeed, no matter their path.
As superintendent, I could not be more proud to share these pages with you. Thank you for your continued support of our students, our staff, and the mission of this district. Together, we are building something that matters—not just for today, but for the future.
With gratitude,
Edward Fletcher
Superintendent, Monmouth-Roseville CUSD 238
