Dear Unity Point Families and Friends,
There are moments when I walk through our hallways and feel so grateful to be part of this community.I see it when Cindy Lu, a third grader, engages her friends with the same passion and care she brings to our Superintendent Advisory Committee. I see it in special moments like when Mr. Tabor enters the lunchroom to the cheers of excited students; during lunch, he shared an opera performance that left the room exploding with "Trojan" applause.I also see it in the enduring connections within our school, such as when Julie Sichei—who arrived from Kenya less than a year ago—was spotted by her former multi-age students, who rushed to greet her with a heartwarming embrace. These moments truly define who we are.
This is Unity Point. This is who we are.
We're Aspen and Emily, growing up side by side through theater rehearsals and basketball games, proving that friendship deepens when you share both the stage and the court. We're Max, Blake, and Will, eighth graders who've played together since fifth grade and now dream of hosting regionals. We're Lily Yana, who found her calling here as a paraprofessional and cheerleading coach, building stunts and building futures. We're Coach Greg Pangrazio and his Boskydell Soccer Club, creating middle school opportunities where none existed before.
Our impact also extends to the programs that stretch beyond the typical school day. We see leadership in action with the Student Council organizing the Giving Tree and our Brain Games teams diving into fantasy fiction while solving complex puzzles under pressure. Additionally, the Trojan Tribe continues to foster a vibrant school community by providing a multitude of leadership and engagement opportunities for our students.
And we're the people who make sure every child finds their place. Jennifer Sykes greeting preschool families at their very first step into school. Mona Shehada, Rawea Alkhafaji, and Lilian Surth supporting students learning English alongside math, science, and friendship. Jennifer Hargrave guiding seventh and eighth graders toward their own voices through literature and leadership.
What makes Unity Point extraordinary isn't one program or one person—it's all of us together. It's Cerenity Brown's belief that "every time we come to school, we're just so happy." It's the way our teachers help students "progress even if they don't know it yet," as Cindy observed. It's how we celebrate differences, encourage dreams, and create space for every language, every talent, and every story.
Thank you for being part of this remarkable place. Thank you for trusting us with your children. And thank you for helping us build a community where kindness, curiosity, and joy shine through every day.
With gratitude and pride,
Dr. Yaa Appiah-McNulty
Superintendent, Unity Point School
