Welcome Letter from Dr. Yaa Appiah-McNulty, Superintendent of Unity Point School

As I step into my role as Superintendent of Unity Point School, I am filled with gratitude for the warmth of this community and excitement for the path ahead. Unity Point is a place where diversity is not only visible—it is embraced as a strength. Our school truly represents what can happen when students, families, and educators come together around a shared vision of growth, belonging, and excellence.

This issue of our magazine captures that spirit. You’ll read about classrooms where teachers spark curiosity and critical thinking, whether through experiments, coding, or the magic of reading. You’ll meet staff members who go above and beyond, not only keeping daily operations running smoothly but also offering care, encouragement, and even comfort when students need it most. You’ll see in our stories that every role whether in the office, the classroom, or behind the scenes contributes to the heartbeat of our school.

Our families and community partners shine brightly in these pages as well. From a PTO committed to making everyone feel like part of the Trojan family, to new voices in our social work team ensuring no child is overlooked, to parents and staff who come together to celebrate culture and support one another. Unity Point thrives because of the people who believe in it.

The experiences of our students remind us why we do this work. Whether it’s a fifth grader who once struggled to read but now competes on the national soccer stage, or eighth graders discovering confidence through athletics and relationships, or younger students learning that their differences make them belong, each story affirms our mission: to meet every child where they are and help them grow.

As your superintendent, I see my role as one of stewardship, building on the strong foundation already in place while preparing for what’s ahead. Together with our leadership team, teachers, staff, and families, we will continue striving for academic excellence, supporting the whole child, and celebrating the diversity that makes Unity Point so extraordinary.

Thank you for welcoming me into this family. I look forward to walking this journey with you. A journey of shared commitment, collective pride, and belief in the remarkable potential of every student who walks through our doors.

Warmly,
Dr. Yaa Appiah-McNulty
Superintendent, Unity Point School
