A message from Superintendent Larry Lovel
Every great community has a story—and ours is one of determination, care, and a belief that good things grow when we nurture them together. That’s what makes this first issue of The Pioneer so exciting: it’s a celebration of who we are at Trico and what happens when education and community move in harmony.
Across these pages, you’ll find evidence of that harmony everywhere. You’ll read about classrooms where innovation and compassion walk hand in hand, from the digital breakthroughs giving our rural students a global reach to the language programs that make new learners feel instantly at home. You’ll see how we’re building confidence through music, athletics, and career-ready programs that connect hands-on learning with real-world opportunity.
Our transportation team reminds us what reliability looks like on four—or six—wheels, our cafeteria crew shows us that nourishment is another form of love, and our after-school program keeps curiosity alive long after the bell rings. In every corner of this district, people are quietly shaping futures—coaches, custodians, secretaries, teachers, and students themselves—each one doing the daily work that makes Trico thrive.
You’ll meet the educators behind our growing culture of care, the mentors who never stop asking “why?” until curiosity turns into discovery, and the leaders who see every challenge as a chance to strengthen the ties that bind us. These aren’t stories of isolated achievement; they’re glimpses of a shared purpose—a community determined to prepare its young people not only for the next test or the next season, but for life.
As we launch The Pioneer, my hope is that you’ll recognize yourself somewhere in these pages—because this magazine belongs to all of us. It’s a reflection of our pride, our perseverance, and our promise to keep moving forward, together, with Pioneer spirit guiding the way.
With Pioneer Pride,
Larry Lovel
