Dear Momence CUSD 1 Community,
As spring breathes new life into our community, I'm filled with pride reflecting on the remarkable stories featured in this issue of "The One." Each page illuminates what makes Momence exceptional – our outstanding students, dedicated educators, and innovative programs working together to build bright futures.
The heart of Momence is visible in students like Marcus Roberson, who thoughtfully charts his path to college with purpose and determination, and Brendan Willard, who approaches his future in the electrical trades with clarity and confidence. Their different paths reflect our commitment to preparing every student for success, whether through higher education or directly entering skilled careers.
Our visionary STEM program, built by educators like Jenna Colevris and Dr. Mike Bleyle, exemplifies our innovative approach to education. From kindergartners designing in 3D to middle schoolers mastering robotics, our students aren't just learning technology – they're developing critical thinking skills that will serve them throughout life.
I'm equally impressed by our students' entrepreneurial spirit. From Erick Castillo balancing athletic leadership with business ambitions to Isabella Medrano's journey from robotics to salon ownership dreams, our young people are developing the confidence to create their own opportunities. Meanwhile, Khloee Morris reminds us of an essential truth – that self-worth comes from within, not from others' opinions.
Our youngest students inspire just as much as our oldest. Third-grader Quinn Rahme, our "bunny whisperer" with veterinary dreams, and fifth-grader Leah Grider, applying her coding skills toward a future in medicine, show that Momence's commitment to excellence begins in our earliest grades.
The threads that connect all these stories – resilience, innovation, community support, and future-focused thinking – form the fabric of what makes Momence CUSD 1 extraordinary. Whether our students, like Lukas Scholz, are overcoming significant health challenges while pursuing their passions, or like Cassidy Stromme, balancing small-town roots with big-city dreams, they all benefit from a supportive community that believes in their potential.
As you read this issue of "The One," I hope you'll share my pride in these remarkable students and dedicated educators. Together, we're creating an environment where every student can discover their strengths, pursue their passions, and build the resilience needed for whatever path they choose.
With Momence Pride,
Shannon Anderson, Superintendent
Momence CUSD 1
