Welcome Letter From the Superintendent - Spring '24

Spring is here, bringing with it not just warmer weather and blooming flowers, but also the latest edition of Momence One Magazine. I'm thrilled to bring you an issue that shines a spotlight on one of our most cherished traditions: the Momence Invitational Math Competition.

For 37 years, this event has been a cornerstone of our school community, celebrating not just the brilliance of our students but also the spirit of collaboration and dedication that makes it possible. In this issue, we delve into the heart of the competition, bringing you stories that capture its essence and the people who breathe life into it year after year.

We've dedicated this entire issue to the rich history of the competition, tracing its roots and evolution over the decades, to include a sit-down with the originators. It's a journey through time that highlights how this event has grown, adapted, and continued to inspire not just our students but the entire Momence community.

But what's a tradition without the people who uphold it? This issue is replete with profiles of the incredible volunteers and team members—teachers, parents, and alumni—who come together to make the Momence Invitational Math Competition a reality. Their commitment and hard work are the backbone of this event, and it's an honor to share their stories with you.

Of course, at the heart of the competition are our kids—the young mathematicians who rise to the challenge each year. You'll meet some of these remarkable students in this issue, learning about their experiences, achievements, and the ways in which the competition has impacted their academic journeys. These stories are a testament to the talent, determination, and spirit of our students, showcasing the bright futures that lie ahead for them.

As you read through this issue, I hope you feel a sense of pride in our community and the tradition that the Momence Invitational Math Competition represents. It's a celebration of our collective commitment to education, excellence, and each other—a true testament to what we can achieve together.

Here's to the stories that continue to emerge from our best efforts, and to the continued strength and unity of our Momence Schools family.
