Welcome to ROAR! — the Winter Issue!

As we dive into another season of connection, collaboration, and celebration, I’m thrilled to welcome you to the Winter issue of Roar! This edition captures the heart of our school district—the incredible people, programs, and stories that make Byron Schools an exceptional place to learn, grow, and thrive.

In these pages, you’ll meet educators like Martha Fletcher, whose passion for history extends beyond textbooks. You’ll read about Rachel Rankin, who leads our Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, preparing students for immediate employment while inspiring them to explore careers in healthcare.  Our district is full of unsung heroes, like Rich Wessel, who brings entrepreneurial spirit to life in his business and technology classes, and Tori Spanbauer, whose resilience and dedication as a school bus driver remind us of the vital role every member of our team plays in shaping the lives of our students.

This issue also highlights programs that push boundaries and challenge our students to think differently. From Lauren Gura’s Academically Talented program, which ignites curiosity and critical thinking, to the creative outlets provided by our incredible arts and music teachers, to all the others who make the school days amazing moments in our children’s lives, Byron Schools continue to set an unparalleled standard of excellence.

None of this would be possible without you—our supportive community. Your commitment to our students and schools fuels everything we do. Together, we are ensuring that every child in Byron has the tools and opportunities to achieve their dreams.

As you read through this issue, I hope that—like me—you’ll feel the pride and purpose that define Byron Schools. Again, thank you so much for being an integral part of our story.

With gratitude,

Buster Barton
Superintendent, Byron Schools
