All-time Record Written in Loyalty and Love for the Game

“They were helping me, and that meant a lot.”

The moment the ball left Emma Morse’s hands and found Jamisen Green, everything felt familiar. It was the same motion they had practiced together for years—the same trust, the same timing. When Jamisen scored, she did more than add two points to the scoreboard. She made history, becoming Harrisburg High School’s all-time leading scorer with more than 2,000 career points. But for Jamisen, the milestone wasn’t just about numbers. It was about the teammates who had been beside her every step of the way.

Jamisen, a senior guard, has been playing basketball since fourth grade. She remembers those early days clearly, when the game was less about records and more about learning to play together. Even then, something special was forming. “All the girls in my grade, we’ve always been pretty good together,” she said. “Even looking back at some videos, we always looked like we played like a team.”

That same group of teammates has stayed together for nearly a decade. Seniors Emma Tess Harbison, Quincy Nicholes, Hannah Rorer, McKendra Douglas, Emma Morse, and Jamisen have shared practices, games, and memories since elementary school. Their connection goes far beyond the court. “They’re my best friends,” Jamisen said. “We’ve always been really close, and I’m really glad that they helped me achieve that.”

Her basketball journey began at Dorrisville Baptist Church, where she first experienced the game in a casual setting. From there, she joined her elementary school team, where practices became more structured and the competition more meaningful. With each passing year, her skills grew alongside her love for the sport.

By the time she reached high school, Jamisen had developed into a versatile player capable of contributing in multiple roles, though she primarily plays guard. Her scoring ability became one of her defining strengths. Over four varsity seasons, she scored 2,225 points, surpassing the previous school record of 2,067. She remembers the moment she broke the record vividly. “I just hugged all my teammates,” she said. “It was just really exciting.”

The celebration reflected the teamwork behind the achievement. The basket that secured the record came from an assist by Emma Morse, one of the friends who had been beside her since the beginning. Jamisen could feel their support throughout the season. “You could definitely tell that they wanted me to get it,” she said. “They were helping me, and that meant a lot.”

Her success didn’t happen overnight. It was built through years of practice, dedication, and encouragement from coaches, teammates, and family. Her parents and coaches carefully tracked her progress, while the school’s Bulldog Media page even created a countdown leading up to the milestone. When she finally broke the record, she described the feeling as relief mixed with joy. “It was a weight off my shoulders,” she said. “It felt good to finally get it.”

While basketball has been her primary passion, Jamisen has also been active in other areas of school life. She played volleyball and participated in Letterman’s Club, where varsity athletes visit younger students to encourage involvement in sports. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and Dawg Pound, the school’s student section group that promotes school spirit. Reflecting on her school community, she said, “It’s just a really close-knit community, and we support each other in our athletics.”

Jamisen’s basketball journey is far from over. She plans to continue her career at John A. Logan College, where she will play at the collegiate level while studying exercise science. Her goal is to become a physical therapist, combining her love of sports with a desire to help others.

The record she set will stand as a symbol of excellence, but the relationships behind it are what matter most. For Jamisen Green, basketball has never been just about scoring points. It has been about playing alongside the people who made every moment unforgettable.
