A Presence That Lifts Everyone Around Him
“I really hold myself to a high standard.”

Walking through the halls of Cairo High School, it does not take long to notice the steady confidence and positivity that surrounds Kris Farley. He carries himself with purpose, offering encouragement to others and setting an example through both his actions and his attitude. Recognized as a model student, he represents something deeper than academic success or athletic achievement. He represents character.
When asked about the recognition, his first instinct is not to focus on himself, but on those around him. “I try,” he said with a humble smile. “But I’m not just the only one that makes the model thing. It’s everybody in the school. They fuel me.” His words reflect a mindset rooted in gratitude and humility, a belief that success is never achieved alone.
Now a junior at Cairo High School, he has built a reputation not only for his accomplishments but for the way he treats others. He holds himself to high standards, guided by a desire to be authentic in every setting. “I really hold myself to a high standard,” he explained. “And I’m working on integrity because I don’t want to just act like this in school and be somewhere else and act differently. I just want to be me everywhere.”
Much of that perspective comes from the influence of his family, especially his mother, Kristen Box. “Everything I really know, I learned from my mom,” he said. “I was a big mama’s boy.” He describes her as someone who taught him patience, kindness, and the importance of understanding others.
Empathy has become one of his defining strengths. He makes a conscious effort to support those around him, especially during difficult moments. “I don’t judge,” he said. “I try to put myself in their shoes and talk them through it.” That approach reflects emotional maturity and a deep sense of compassion.
Over time, he has learned the importance of preparation and discipline. One simple change—getting everything ready the night before—helped him start his days with confidence and focus. “It would take a lot of stress away,” he said. “I hang everything up, and when I wake up, it just feels good that morning. I got everything in order.” That habit reflects a broader mindset of responsibility and intentional living.
Faith also plays a central role in his life. When asked about his most important priority, his answer came without hesitation. “God,” he said. “Biggest priority, most important thing in my life.” His faith guides his decisions and provides the foundation for his values.
His commitment to growth extends beyond character into academics and extracurricular activities. He consistently earns honor roll and high honors recognition while participating in a variety of school programs. He is a member of Scholar Bowl and Beta Club and competes in basketball, track, and, for the first time, baseball.
On the basketball court, he serves as a starting varsity power forward. While competition matters, his focus remains on unity and teamwork. “I just want to stay united with my team, win or lose. Humbleness is key.” His words reflect leadership rooted in respect and perspective.
His willingness to try new things also reflects his determination. This year, he plans to join the baseball team for the first time, embracing the challenge with optimism. “Never played baseball in my life,” he said. “But I’m gonna give it a run. Try to be good at everything I do.”
Even in academic competitions like Scholar Bowl, he approaches challenges with a willingness to learn. “Even if I don’t know the answer, I’m going to give it a try,” he said. “And even if I get it wrong, I’m going to go home and look everything up.” That mindset reflects resilience and curiosity.
Looking ahead, he is considering several paths, including carpentry, woodworking, psychology, and ministry. Each possibility reflects both practical skill and a desire to make a meaningful impact.
When asked what advice he would share with others, his answer reflected the foundation of everything he believes. “Keep God first,” he said. “You’re always second.”
Those who know him recognize the positive energy he brings into every space. He embraces that responsibility with humility. “I’m just me,” he said. “Happy. Always smiling. I try to be the sun that comes up in every room.”
