Dreams, Hugs, and Happiness: Kaden Corcoran’s Vision for Meridian CUSD #101
His ultimate goal is to create a community of happiness.
Kaden Corcoran, a ten-year-old fourth grader, has a vision for the world—and it begins with the power of kindness and the unstoppable force of dreams.

Kaden's dream might sound unconventional at first. He doesn't just aspire to be a YouTuber with a high-tech gaming setup—though that’s definitely part of his plan. His ultimate goal is to create a community of happiness, inspiring his fans to believe in themselves and chase their dreams. “I don’t even care about the money,” Kaden shares earnestly. “I just want people to be happy, to have a good day, and to believe in their own abilities.”
Kaden has already started practicing what he preaches in the most heartwarming way possible: hugs. Known affectionately as the "happy hugger" around school, Kaden has turned this simple gesture into an art form, infusing each embrace with what he describes as “happiness energy.” It’s his way of making someone’s bad day a little better. His hugs, a unique ability he’s proud of, exemplify the unity and compassion that define the Meridian school community.
When it comes to school life, Kaden lights up while discussing his favorite activities, like reading quirky books such as Dork Diaries or experimenting with science. “I love chemical reactions,” he says, his face lighting up at the thought of a good science experiment. For Kaden, science embodies the thrill of discovery, where even mistakes can lead to "cool reactions."
He also dreams big for Meridian. Kaden envisions a future where the school expands to accommodate more students, with bigger spaces for art, PE, and other activities. “I think if the school were bigger, more students could come and feel awesome,” he explains, showing his innate understanding of how growth can foster inclusivity.
The teachers at Meridian have left a lasting impact on Kaden. “They’ve helped me realize that even if dreams are hard to accomplish, they’re still possible,” he reflects. While he couldn’t recall the name of one influential speech teacher, her guidance clearly made an impression on him, helping shape his belief in perseverance and possibility.
As the oldest sibling in his family, Kaden has learned responsibility early. With three younger siblings, he jokes about the “torture” of being the eldest but admits it’s made him more observant and caring. These qualities shine in the way he interacts with classmates and teachers alike.
Kaden’s dreams extend beyond himself. Inspired by his love for superhero stories, he imagines having time-stopping powers to help others in need—like thwarting robberies or helping police catch villains. But for now, he channels his heroism into making everyday life a little brighter for those around him.
When asked to describe Meridian School in three words, Kaden thoughtfully chose “perfect,” “nice,” and “giving.” Then he added a fourth: “happy.” It’s a fitting description, given his efforts to contribute to that happiness through his hugs, optimism, and dreams for a better future.
