LeAjah Patterson: Academic Stand-Out

By Steve Dallape

LeAjah Patterson isn’t one to remain idle for long. Whether it’s Beta Club, FFA, Student Council or studying to maintain her place on the honor roll, she strives to remain active and engaged.

LeAjah lives in Pulaski, along with her parents and three younger siblings, and her mom is a kindergarten teacher in the Meridian district.

Her twelve-year-old brother and ten-year-old sister like to play basketball, and her eight-year-old sister is into cheerleading, but LeAjah is focused on academics these days. She is studying hard to test into the Fast Start program through Shawnee Community College, so she can start taking college-level courses her Junior and Senior years. LeAjah’s goal is to attend the Hogan Institute of Cosmetology and Aesthetics in Georgia after high school, where she can gain the skills and knowledge necessary to open her own salon. She is already well on her way, having already become a Certified Lash Technician.

LeAjah’s favorite subject is English, and she enjoys writing — particularly fiction. She also likes to write essays, if the topic is left up to her. The freedom to choose a subject and run with it is something that really stimulates her creativity.

LeAjah has a strong desire to help others, and feels that people her age often struggle because they aren’t able to get the kind of support at home that she enjoys. She regrets that there is so much need in the world, and tries to do her part to fulfill those needs when she can.

With her entrepreneurial spirit, caring personality and strong work ethic, LeAjah has all the tools she needs to build a successful, fulfilling life and career in the future.
