Dear Meridian Families, Friends, and Community Members,
Welcome to the Summer issue of Fusion! It is a joy and a privilege to greet you in my new role as Superintendent of Meridian CUSD 101. Though this position is new to me, I’ve spent many meaningful years on the elementary side of our district, working alongside colleagues, families, and—most importantly—our students. And I begin this new chapter with deep appreciation for the values that define Meridian and bind us together: education, family, community, growth, and a constant belief in what’s possible.
This issue of Fusion is a testament of our collective achievements. It is a beautiful snapshot of who we are and who we’re becoming. Across every level of our schools, young people are stepping forward to lead, to grow, and to serve. From the determined players of our high school and junior high baseball teams who found character through challenge, to the Beta Club scholars and Educators Rising members already preparing to teach the next generation, Meridian students are proving that success isn’t always about wins on the scoreboard—it’s about showing up, working and connecting with others, trying again, and lifting others along the way.
You’ll meet students who have discovered strength through service, like those in FCCLA and FFA, who give back with heart and pride. You’ll read about Student Council leaders—both young and seasoned—whose ideas light up our classrooms, hallways, courts, fields, and school and community events. And you’ll celebrate our Scholar Bowl teams and athletic programs, where growth and grit go hand in hand.
As we head into the 2025–2026 school year, I want you to know how proud I am to lead a district where students don’t just learn facts—they learn compassion, leadership, and resilience. These stories remind us that we are all educators in some way, shaping futures through the support we give and the example we set.
Thank you for your continued belief in our students, staff, administrators, and schools. Your support is invaluable and greatly appreciated. Here’s to a bright future of promise, progress, and partnership for Meridian CUSD #101.
Warmly,
Dr. Lisa Childs Thomas
Superintendent
Meridian CUSD 101
