Welcome Letter From the Superintendent - Spring '25

“Meridian’s story is one of perseverance, innovation, and heart.”

Dear Meridian CUSD 101 Community,

As I write this, my final letter for Fusion, I find myself reflecting on the past seven years—years filled with growth, challenges, and countless moments of pride. Serving as your superintendent has been one of the greatest honors of my career, and while I look forward to my next chapter, Meridian will always hold a special place in my heart.

This district is more than just a place of learning—it’s a community built by passionate educators, dedicated volunteers, and families who invest in our students' success. Our students, in turn, continue to inspire me with their resilience and potential. This issue of Fusion highlights just a few of the incredible people who make Meridian so special.

Take Tyler Dixon, who returned home to teach English and remind students that their hometown is worth celebrating. Or Sarah Penrod, whose art classroom has become a space where students feel seen, heard, and inspired to create. Jeff Green, a former data scientist, is bringing real-world experience to the classroom, proving that great teachers come from all walks of life.

Behind the scenes, our leadership team has been working tirelessly to elevate our schools from underperforming to commendable status—evidence of what’s possible when educators and students work together toward a common goal. Programs like Alice Smith and Kaylee Justice’s mentorship initiative are ensuring that new teachers feel supported, strengthening our district’s foundation for years to come.

Meridian’s story is one of perseverance, innovation, and heart. You are in good hands. The people here serving this school community care deeply about children and the possibilities inherent in education as the world’s greatest lever for mobility. As I move forward, I do so with immense gratitude for the relationships built and the progress made here. We did it together and the footings and foundations of Meridian are deep. In my heart, Bobcats will always be rising; continue to make good things happen here.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this journey.

With appreciation and admiration,

Jon Green
Superintendent, Meridian CUSD 101
