From the Superintendent’s Desk

Dr. Lisa Thomas

At Meridian, our strength has always come from the people who choose to invest their hearts, hands, and hopes in this community. Every story in this issue of Fusion reflects that truth — that education is not only about learning facts but about shaping lives, building confidence, and nurturing potential that lasts far beyond the classroom.

You’ll see it in the way our teachers lead with passion and purpose — from Shelby Atkinson, who blends fashion, business, and mentorship to empower students to dream boldly, to Korey McCormick, whose career in science now inspires a new generation of thinkers to stay curious and keep trying. Our educators remind us that teaching is as much about modeling resilience as it is about delivering lessons.

You’ll find that same spirit in our students, whose journeys remind us that ambition begins here. Whether discovering their voices through digital storytelling, charting health-related career paths, or gaining confidence in leadership and athletics, these young people are learning that the skills they build in our classrooms open doors to the wider world.

And woven through it all are stories of home — of those who return to Meridian to teach, coach, and serve the next generation. Their commitment speaks volumes about what makes this district special: a belief that where you come from is not a limitation, but a foundation.

From classrooms to community partnerships, from new programs to time-honored traditions, Meridian continues to move forward — together. I couldn’t be prouder of our staff, our students, and the families who support them. The pride we feel is not only in what our young people accomplish, but in the shared sense of purpose that unites us all as Bobcats.

With Bobcat Pride,
Dr. Lisa Thomas
