Welcome to the Spring Issue of Fly Together
Joe Sornberger, Superintendent of Jasper County Schools
Spring in Jasper County is more than just a change in the seasons—it’s a reminder of the promise of growth, the hard work of our students and educators, and the strong sense of community that defines our schools. As we celebrate another incredible semester, this issue of Fly Together offers a glimpse into the remarkable people who make our district what it is.
In these pages, you’ll meet students like Alisson Stanley, an Illinois State Scholar whose passion for chemical engineering is matched only by her determination to make a real impact in the world. You’ll read about Cayden Goode, who plans to return to his hometown as an elementary teacher, proving that great education often comes full circle. And you’ll follow Ella Radke’s journey, where a lifelong love for animals has led her toward veterinary medicine, showing us all the power of perseverance.
Education is about more than just academics—it’s about people. It’s about dedicated teachers like Diane Howard and Linda Tharp, who have spent decades shaping young minds, always adapting, always learning alongside their students. It’s about leaders like Joni Elliott, who has dedicated her career to music and the arts, giving students a place to find their confidence and their voice. And it’s about those working behind the scenes, like Scott Larson, a school cook whose impact extends far beyond the lunch line, reminding every child they are seen and cared for.
Each of these stories, in their own way, reflects what makes Jasper County Schools extraordinary. They highlight the drive of our students, the passion of our educators, and the unwavering support of our community.
As we step into the final months of the school year, let’s take a moment to appreciate all that we’ve accomplished together. Thank you for being part of this journey and for supporting the students and staff who make Jasper County a truly special place to learn and grow.
Enjoy this issue of Fly Together, and as always, thank you for your continued support of Jasper County Schools.
