Early Spring 2026 Bonus Issue

Welcome Letter – Early Spring Bonus Issue

Dr. Greg Goins, Superintendent

There are moments in a school year when you pause, take a breath, and look around — not at any one program, or event, or accomplishment — but at the people. The students. The staff. The families. The community. And you realize that what you’re witnessing is something larger than the sum of its parts.

This Early Spring Bonus Issue is one of those moments.

As you turn these pages, you’ll meet students who are already shaping their futures with intention — young people balancing work, family, and school while building plans for careers in cosmetology, education, and beyond. You’ll see what it looks like when confidence is earned, not given — whether it’s on a stage, on a court, in a classroom, or in a moment when something finally clicks.

You’ll also meet the adults who make those moments possible.

Educators who have spent decades walking alongside students, quietly guiding them through challenges until they discover what they are capable of. First-year teachers who chose this work because they believe deeply in what it can mean for a child’s future. Staff members whose roles may not always be visible, but whose impact is felt in every hallway, every classroom, every single day.

You’ll see a reading program designed not just to measure growth, but to celebrate the moment a child realizes, “I can do this.” You’ll see classrooms where mistakes are reframed as discovery, where effort is valued, and where every student is known — not as a number, but as an individual.

You’ll read about students who lead not because they were told to, but because they see a need and step forward. About teams that grow stronger together. About a community that continues to show up — for its school, and for each other — in ways that matter.

And perhaps most importantly, you’ll see what makes Joppa-Maple Grove what it is.

We are small by design. That is not a limitation — it is our strength. It allows us to know our students deeply. To support them personally. To hold high expectations while extending grace. To ensure that no one slips through unnoticed, and that every success — no matter how quiet — is recognized and valued.

What you’ll find in this issue is not a collection of isolated stories. It is a reflection of a culture.

A culture where students help younger students without being asked. Where staff go beyond their roles because they care. Where families remain connected to the school long after their own time here has passed. Where opportunity is not just presented — it is nurtured, encouraged, and carried forward.

I often say that schools are about more than academics. They are about building people. Building confidence. Building character. Building the belief that each individual has something meaningful to contribute.

These stories are proof of that work in action.

Thank you for taking the time to read them, to celebrate them, and to continue supporting the students and staff who make Joppa-Maple Grove such a special place.

We are proud of who we are. And even more excited about where we’re going.

With gratitude,

Dr. Greg Goins
